== Criticism ==

XKCD has been criticized multiple times for a variety of reasons. The most common criticism is its "reddit" style of humor, which often involves puns, randomness, and smarminess. The comic has also been criticized for its over-simplistic style that can seem immature.

Most [[/tech/|/tech/ies]] and [[/g/|/g/uys]] dislike the comic because of the author's siding with the SJWs during [[Gamer Gate]] and that many of the comics express the very liberal political ideals of the artist. For example, in 2014, a comic commenting on Gamer Gate was released that said that expressing an opinion is fine, but being an ass justifies a ban from places such as [[Twitter]]. This specific comic has been modified multiple by the users of /g/ and /tech/ times to say "If you can't handle conflicting opinion, go back to your hug box" to redditors and other outsiders.
