iOS (Formerly iPhone OS) is the proprietary operating system by Apple Inc., used in iPhones and iPod Touch devices. iPads used to use iOS before Apple decided to fork it and give them their own dedicated iPadOS. It is based on Darwin which is the opensource core (XNU kernel + system utilities) that is used in every modern Apple operating system. It is known for being very reliable and stable, or that "it just werks".
