Cyberpunk is a theme of fiction and a direct decedent on Cypherpunk. Think steampunk, but Computers. A typical cyberpunk society is a dystopia founded on the idea of "High tech, low life". Another common theme in Cyberpunk is people taking technology and using it in a way that it was never intended.
Cyberpunks like older technology, mostly from the pre-1990's era of computing.
